Chicken Divan Recipe
Since I've had so many requests for the Chicken Divan recipe I'm posting it right away. This is my mother-in-law's recipe and she can cook!
6-8 cooked, chopped chicken breasts
2-3 packages frozen broccoli (I think this means those small boxes of veggies, I use about 1 large bag)
Layer the above ingredients in a 9 X 13 Pyrex dish.
In a bowl combine:
1 Can Cream of Chicken Soup
8 ounces Sour Cream
3/4 Cup Cheddar Cheese
4 ounces Parmesan Cheese
2 T butter
In a pan over the stove, combine:
2 T butter
2 T flour
3/4 Cup Chicken Broth
1/4 Cup Milk
Let the pan mixture boil and thicken.
Then combine both the bowl and the pan mixtures. Stir really well.
Pour the combination over the layered chicken and broccoli mixture.
Cook at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.

Deep Thoughts by Nancy
I think I've figured this school thing out - you get up really early and get your children to school. You enjoy 6+ hours of time without them - doing things like running, walking, laundry, organizing coupons, preparing - but not cooking- meals ahead of time, cleaning out refrigerator, and the occasional lunch with friends.
Then the clock strikes and it's time for pickup - after going through two separate carpool lines at different times you get home. And.its.non-stop. Oh my word, supervising homework, reading and the "projects" Caroline comes up with. Getting all of this done while simultaneously getting dinner on the table. And don't forget geting a child ready for football practice.
I figured it out. The afternoons are pay back for the full day they are in school!

What is wrong with this picture?
The other night, David and I went out for dinner and had our sweet babysitter put Jere and Caroline to bed. When we got home, David went upstairs to check on them and came back downstairs saying, "Jere is sleeping in Caroline's bed".
I went up there and couldn't resist taking a picture of my big 8 year old asleep in his sister's princess castle bed! (Side note: This was not her original big girl bed. My niece had this bed from ages 4-8 and was ready for a more traditional bed. We inherited this beauty. And I will say Caroline LOVES it! It even has a slide!)
Note the Truck themed pillow and his denim comforter he brought with him.
And on the other end of the bed, this is what I saw

If you wondering what Caroline is wearing - it's not pajamas; it's school spirit wear. She's hooked.

Wanna Drink?
.jpg)
Thanks to Target, I have a few cases of Diet Coke, Sprite and Coke! Here is what I did:
Buy 4 12 packs of Coke Products, receive a $10 Target Gift card.
The first transaction was something like $11.07 - yall know numbers aren't my thing! I paid $11.07 and received a $10 Target Gift card. I asked the manager ringing me up if there was a limit to how many times this could be done. She replied no and I hit the town!
The next time, I purchased 4 more 12 packs for $11.07 - used the $10 gift card to pay for a portion of my purchase and owed a whopping $1.07. In turn, I received ANOTHER $10 Target Gift card.
With which I bought 4 more 12 packs for $11.07 - used the $10 gift card plus $1.07 to pay for my transaction. You guessed it, I got ANOTHER $10 gift card to Target.
Rinse. Repeat.
At this time we have 16 12 packs of various coke products on our counter top - and I paid a whopping $15.28 (if my math is right, which it probably isn't!!).
Less than a $1 per 12 pack? DEAL!
Now, who wants to come over for a glass of coke?

Outraged and Disappointed
Some of you may not know about my secret. I enjoy reading People Magazine. David does too. It's something we both like to do. It usually comes in our Friday mail.
Yesterday's mail brought the newest edition - is that the correct term for magazine?. On the cover was Ellen and Portia's Wedding. A picture of the happy couple and a promise that more details would be covered inside the magazine. I've removed the cover. This is not something I want my children to see.
If I have to remove the cover of something in my own home, I don't think it needs to be there. Are we going to have to cancel our subscription?
