Choices

David has a pilot's class in the Atlanta area this weekend. And I am going along for the ride. We are going to fly down Friday afternoon and return Sunday after his class is finished.

He has a dinner Friday night that we need to attend. He'll have class on Saturday during the day - after sleeping in, I'll be lounging by the pool, shopping, reading, MAYBE running. Who am I kidding? I will not be running in the ATL!

Sunday he has class (and we are skipping church - SHHH!) and I'm looking forward to meeting a sweet friend from high school for lunch.

You might have noticed we have no plans for Saturday night. Tonight we were talking about the choices - and in Atlanta there are plenty of yummy restaurants, but when you fly you don't have a car (potential problem). We are going to be staying at a hotel near the private airport and, as luck would have it, one of the billion of malls in the Atlanta area.

With shuttle service from the airport to the hotel, to David's class, to most anywhere in the area there really is no need to rent a car.

Back to dinner - a quick google search yielded a plethora of choices. As I scanned down the list - I let out a slight squeal and put my hands up in the air - in serious praise and thanksgiving!

Before I could even say what restaurant was in the area - David said, "We are not going to eat at the Cracker Barrel in Atlanta!!"

Oh, he knows me too well.

How the Story Ends

The gloom and doom is everywhere - according to the media our economy is a mess and swine flu could reach pandemic status. This morning I was catching up on the news (via the Today show) while on the treadmill - what a downer!

I started to think about all that is going on with the uncertainty of our economy, when things are going to pick back up, the swine flu - do we know anyone who has been in Mexico recently? And before my mind could get away from me God placed into my heart and mind, "You know how this story ends!"

It's true - as believers we know how the story is going to end. And I am so thankful!

Complete 5K - CHECK!!!

Completing a 5K can now be crossed off of my list of goals for 2009!

We had a blast in Savannah at the Race for the Cure.

More to come later because baseball practice, the grocery store, laundry!!, and cooking are on the agenda for this afternoon. But let me leave you with this:

As my t-shirt says "Just do it". Whatever it is that you feel called to do - figure out the steps to take and do it!

And - get rid of what is holding you back or slowing you down! - (note the jacket tied around me).

Whatever it is you are holding on to - you probably did not need in the first place.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1

Resurrection Sunday

Jesus Paid it All - All to Him I Owe
MY Sin had left a Crimson Stain
He Washed it White as Snow
Oh praise The One who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead - Jesus!!
Just a mom note here:
It has been so exciting to see how Caroline's understanding of Easter has changed since last year. The combination of what she is learning at home, school and church - not to mention the Holy Spirit working in her little life - has been incredible to watch.

Easter 2009

After Church we had a family lunch at our house.

Jere and Caroline hunting for Easter Eggs. Jere looking at his stash and Caroline with cousin Dillon (who had helped to hide the eggs) to help her!

Caroline posing with her basket. Jere and Caroline both decided to change shoes after church and before lunch/Easter Egg hunt. These are the shoes Caroline really wanted to wear to church though.

Comparing Loot
Caroline with Cousin Thomas (the older cousins hid the eggs - so he knew exactly where they were)

Caroline with her sidekick Thomas - it's no wonder she "found" so many eggs!

After the Easter Egg hunt we had dessert. The rule in our house is that children do not eat or drink in the den. Also, Fancy is primarily an outside dog. Here is what I saw in the den during dessert:

Do you see that Caroline has just poured a 20 ounce Coca-Cola into a cup? Jere is holding Fancy hostage.

Runner's High?

The 5K I am running is two weeks from tomorrow. Yikes! I've decided that after this 5K I'm done with running - I don't like it, it's not fun, I'm not seeing the incredible weight loss everyone describes, put a fork in me - I.AM.DONE.

Yesterday, Christy, Sherri, Dawn and I had lunch together celebrating Dawn's birthday. We are all running in Savannah and I made the announcement that this 5K is it for me. Once I cross it off of my list I am DONE WITH RUNNING!

Dawn - who is a professional runner and has run a 1/2 Marathon - just looked at me like I was crazy. On a beautiful day, didn't I just think "what a great day to go for a run"? - NOPE. Quite the opposite.

I might think "what a great day to go out for lunch" or "what a great day to clean a toilet". Oh I jest - I would never say "what a great day to clean a toilet".

Had I had a runner's high? I guess not, because I had to ask what a runners high was. Dawn looked at me - dead serious - and said, "Have you ever done crack?"

Umm No and I don't think you have either!!

So apparently I have never had a runner's high. And I really want it.

So when I relayed this story to David and got to the part about the runner's high - he determined that I had not experienced a runner's high because I was not running hard enough and long enough each time.

What - 30 minutes on the treadmill doesn't cut it?

I just love having a husband who speaks the truth in love!
